The WWDACT Afternoon Tea reception, held at the Reception Room of the Legislative Assembly on Monday 3rd May, was a wonderful success. It was the largest gathering of women with disabilities in many years in the ACT.
Guest Speaker was Ms Therese Rein. Ms Rein spoke about her passion for making Australian society more equitable and socially inclusive. Her experiences growing up in a household with a father who was a paraplegic has given her an understanding of the challenges of living with disabilities. Sue Salthouse, in her introduction, celebrated the strength, talent, resilience and resourcefulness of all WWDACT's members. Over a sumptuous afternoon tea provided by Minty Caterers, the 60 women present had a chance to talk individually with Ms Rein.
